THE church

“Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done, On Earth As It Is In Heaven.”

—Matthew 6:10, NIV

What if everything you have ever been told or have experienced about church has been false? If that is a possibility, would you be willing to give God one more chance? The church is a place of God’s design where people meet and the worries of the world are exchanged for the promises of another. At the eXchange church, our greatest desire is to offer people an opportunity to reboot their lives and exchange their idea of what church is for what church could be: a community of people who admit their faults, accept each other as friends, and find their Savior at the place where the greatest exchange ever took place—the cross!

Everyone has a past. Everyone has hurts. The Church is meant to be a place where you can come as you are, lay your life down at the foot of the Cross, and leave forever changed. However, the Church is not the destination, just a step in the right direction. We don’t claim to have all of the answers, but we feel we may be able to offer some guidance. At the eXchange, the only decision we will ask you to make, is to open yourself up to God, and be willing to head in that new direction. But hold on...it’s going to be an adventure!

our tables

We were never supposed to just GO to church...We’re called to BE the church. This is why the eXchange is going to take a bold step in an attempt to ELEVATE knowing the Bible, being in real fellowship, and sharing your faith...To the same level as going to church. This is what we mean when we say...Our Tables Will Become Our Churches.

When we look to God's Word, we can see that the early church didn’t just meet in the temple together, they also met in each other’s homes. Yes, they worshipped together. But they also shared meals, prayed together, and it says they experienced great joy and generosity (Acts 2:46).

This coupling of communal worship in the temple and intimate fellowship in the home seems to be the Biblical example of what it means to belong to a faith family (Acts 5:41-42).

Not just GOING to church together, but DOING life together. We believe God has asked us to shift our church model to reflect just that. The 1st Sunday of every month. We will still continue to meet corporately. But then the Sunday’s in between, we will be meeting in what we’re going to call BOX CHURCHES alongside the BOX CHURCH network.

These will be personal homes of reputable, tested, and trustworthy leaders within the community. As we place our focus on building a church that is committed to 5 things; the word, prayer, the gospel, miracles, and suffering.

This MISSION of the church will never change. But there are times that God may ask us to shift our METHODS (Matthew 9:17).

Our Sunday gatherings have a purpose. But it’s not to come and hear good music or get an inspirational message. It’s meant to edify, equip, and energize the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12).

We can come and worship our good Father...but we also have to go and reflect God’s goodness to the community. We can come and serve and give to our church, but we also have to go and show generosity to our community. We can come and hear the Word of God preached, but we also have to go and read and apply the Word to our everyday lives. We can glorify His beautiful name, and sing of His reckless love. But we also have to go in boldness and be willing to love others with that same sense of reckless abandon. We can come and create church services that invite people in and usher them into God’s transformative presence. But we also have to then be willing to invite them into our lives, and into our homes, so they can experience the transformative love of Jesus breathed friendships!

This shift will be hard and it will definitely be messy. But if we let God lead, then it might just be amazing!
